About Our Trip

Starting on June 20th, 2008. Tim Whittemore, Sam Stickney, and Noah Hoskins-Forsythe will attempt to ride from Anchorage, Alaska, to the Panama Canal. We will be traveling on touring bicycles, totally self-supported. Please support our ride by making a donation to Heifer International at the following web address: …

Growing up in rural areas and from farming families, agriculture has always been of special significance to Tim, Sam, and Noah. We feel that Heifer International is a unique and exceptional organization, and any attention and support that we can draw to their worthy cause through our ride makes the formidable task we are undertaking worthwhile!

Heifer International (www.heifer.org) is a charitable organization based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Their goal is to create just and sustainable development through out the world through a variety of means. Seeking to create long-term solutions to poverty and hunger, their essential model is quite simple. Through the donation of livestock and other supplies, training, and organizational development, those who receive their gifts are able to become economically self-sufficient and are empowered to pass this generosity on to others in their communities.

Giving money to Heifer International through our team offers a unique opportunity to make the most of donated dollars. Many of charity walks/rides require a large amount of organization and infrastructure that can eat up to 50% of the donations. Our costs for this trip will be covered by personal savings and by an elite group of sponsors, insuring that 100% of the donations will go to Heifer International. Donor dollars will go straight to the purchase of ducks, goats, trees, bees, pigs, lamas, buffalo and other livestock (including cows of course!) Check out www.heifer.org/give for more information on the Heifer International giving model.
