Update from the road
So there are finally pictures up. Sorry it took so long. Here’s the skinny: Judith speculated about the possibility Noah and I had stopped riding entirely and were avoiding the website as a result. This hit a bit too close to the truth for comfort.
We’ve reached Bozeman, MT. Noah flew home a few days ago to go to a family party to celebrate his brother’s wedding and a family reunion. I’m heading out to the west coast with some friends who are moving to the Bay Area. So, though we haven’t quit the trip completely, we’re taking a break from riding for a bit. A vacation from our vacation. Don’t worry, we’ll be back on the road in a lilttle over a week, but it was time for a change. Prior to arriving in Bozeman, we had gone 35 days with only one true day off. There were a few days that were softer, only 25 or 30 miles, but only once had we gone to sleep in the same place we woke up.
Now comes the other change: We’ve decided to bike to Mexico but not continue to through Central America to Panama. Neither of us speak Spanish and this seems like a problem. Sleeping in a ditch on the side of the road in Montana is fundamently different than sleeping in a ditch in Mexico. So that’s that. We’ll ride another 2000 miles and call it a trip. This will give us a chance to explore the American southwest a bit more. Thus far we’ve hard clear destinations and clear deadlines and have been biking hard to make them. It will be nice to ride roll along without worrying about getting Noah to an airport.
3300 miles biked, 2 countries, 2 states, 2 provinces, 1 territory, $4961 raised, another $377 pledged, still no bears wrestled, and not enough goofy beards to please those interested.

I believe that I sponsored only the really sketchy parts of the trip (Mexico), so I want a refund!
Just kidding! I love the photos, a beautiful sight. And the scenery is nice too! Love, Emily

Bad news: You need to speak Spanish in Mexico too! LOL!
Hey guys I am enjoying your trip and following all of your adventures. You’re truly an inspiration.

I think the new plan is a very sensible one. Even if you were to quit tomorrow, you’ll still have done something impressive and brought some non-trivial cash to a worthy cause. I hope to hear from you on the Mexican border, though.

Awesome pictures guys. We are sure you have inspired a lot of people, not only your freinds. From when we met on the Alaska-Yukon border You have inspired us to make that trip again {in our motor home}. Have a great and safe ride from here on.

Few! I’m glad you saw my (and that of many others!) wisdom… Now you have more time to visit in Colorado! The only time that wouldn’t work would be Septeber 22 - 26 when I’ll be on a trip to a farm with the 9th grade. But other than that, you are super welcome in Boulder.

Noah & Tim,
This latest entry confused us when you reported on the amount of money raised and the amount pledged. It doesn’t match the figure on the Heifer Project site under My Team Page, $6,141
Lots of Love, Ellen & Alan

Oh well. At least the bears didn’t get you. Still an incredible feat, guys. You are inspiring- I’ve been toying with the idea of hiking the AT between my junior and senior years, or after I graduate…If I do, I think I’ll do the same kind of thing you boys have done. Start a blog, raise money, raise awareness. I’m really impressed with you two. Noah, is it still true that you’ll be teaching second semester?

We’re jealous of the scenery from our 3rd floor apartment in Philly. Thinking of you while planning to bike to work in the rain tomorrow. (Read THUNDERSTORMS!) Ok, not as dramatic as bear wrestling, but we’re still waiting on those stories. Have fun! Thanks for riding and we’re thinking of you.
